Paul McAlister, The Barn Studio | #5185

The Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CREST) at South West College in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, is a Passive House certified project. Completed in 2014, it features a timber construction with energy-efficient systems, including large south-facing glazing for solar gain and natural light.

The building’s thermal envelope includes SIPS panels and rigid insulation, with a ventilation system using ComfoAir units. It has an annual heating demand of 13 kWh/m², a heating load of 12 W/m², and a non-renewable primary energy demand of 66 kWh/m².
