Small Scale Public Projects – The Spencer Building Passivhaus Case Study
Following a successful workshop at Queen’s University Belfast, this session is part of a three-part series led by the Ministerial Advisory Group, PHAI and PHT, exploring how Passivhaus can be delivered across different project scales — from small public buildings to large developments and housing.
The series dives into real-world case studies, sharing practical insights on designing and delivering high-performance, low-energy buildings in Northern Ireland.
This webinar features a detailed look at the Spencer Library project, presented by Gwilym Still of Max Fordham. The session covers key topics including the client’s motivation for pursuing Passivhaus, fabric-first design, MEP systems, cost considerations, and lessons learned from delivery. It also explores wider strategies for decarbonising public building estates and moving towards net zero.
The session wraps up with a live Q&A, bringing together industry experts and stakeholders to discuss challenges, opportunities, and the future of Passivhaus in Northern Ireland.
