On the 29th of June the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Dun Laoghaire hosted the PHAI technical briefing on the theme of Deep Retrofitting.
Opening the Briefing, Edward Ward from GapoGroup announced Patron Membership of his company with the PHAI and presented GapoTape: a revolutionary insulation tape able to address airtightness and to eliminate the performance gap at the same time. The Passive House Association of Ireland is delighted to have such an innovative company on board, representing the excellence in the field of passive house products.
Deep retrofitting is a popular and crucial issue at the moment, and for the future of the building sector in Ireland. The Briefing at IADT was a good chance to share knowledge and experiences acquired through three different case studies which have been presented by Tomas O’Leary, co-founder of the Passive House Academy and the MosArt group; Simon McGuinness, architect and lecturer at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and Andree Dargan, county architect at Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. The presentations focused respectively on step-by-step retrofitting, cost optimality of Passive House retrofit and the Rochestown project, a social housing retrofitting as well as Ireland’s largest EnerPHit development. A PDF version of the presentation will be available on the Members Area.
Since the commitment of the PHAI in promoting the Passive House concept and products continues, at the conclusion of the event the dates of the next two technical briefings have been announced, as follows:
- October 12th, Athboy, hosted by Ecological Building Systems
- November 9th, CIT Cork, featuring Cygnum
