On the 22nd of February the Annual General Meeting of the Passive House Association of Ireland took place at Buswells Hotel, with great participation from directors and members and a rich agenda to celebrate the successes achieved and introducing new goals for the future. The board gathered to review previous activities and to present the next steps to be undertaken for further development of the association, its influence and network. Among the attendees, the patron member companies were well represented and the importance of their role and contribution to the association was highlighted.
PHAI directors from the Republic and Northern Ireland contributed to depict the general scenario for the PH standard implementation and to recap on 2016 activities and events.
In 2016 PHAI registered as a lobby group and intensified its effort in proposing policies and engaging with public authorities to promote the standard. The membership network has also widened, currently at 83 members. PHAI team itself was expanded with the recruit of Michela Ferrando, new Business Development of the association. The board welcomed Garrett Quinn, Barry Mc Carron and Seamus Mullins as new directors and the AGM was concluded with the election of the new chairman, with the majority of votes in favour of Paul McAlister.
Election of new Chairman: Paul McAlister
As instructed by the statute, the conclusion of the three-year mandate of Shane Colclough required a new vote of the membership, which proclaimed Paul McAlister as new chairman of PHAI. Architect and passive house certified designer, Paul has always been deeply committed to the sustainability cause. Based in Northern Ireland, his election will ensure the continued development of the association throughout Ireland.
Appreciation for the outgoing Chairman: Shane Colclough
The devotion and passion of Shane Colclough to the PHAI cause have always been well known by all directors and members, who took the opportunity to address special words of appreciation for the great work done.
Building on the great work by founding chairman Martin Murray, Shane has led the association to a further level of growth over the past three years. One of the significant achievements of his inspiring guidance has been the introduction of eight valued patron members. The importance of their role in the ongoing development of the association has been highlighted and documented. Prestigious academic and energy expert, Shane will continue to lend his support and be an active member of the board.
